Textpattern Cluestick
While the Textbook contains a lot of useful information, a lot of really helpful documentation for beginners to Textpattern is scattered throughout the web.
Here’s some recommended reading for fellow Textpattern newbies.
Textpattern Frequently Asked Questions
The official Textpattern FAQ list has a number of helpful items. “Common ‘How Do I’ questions” is probably the most generally useful.
Wion: Understanding Textpattern Building BlocksAn extremely basic, but extremely useful overview of how sites are put together using Textpattern. Some readers might want to skip over the section “Static Versus Dynamic Web Sites: A Primer.”
The official FAQ entry “I’ve installed Textpattern. Now what?” contains a short overview of Textpattern’s “Building Blocks”; The two articles on wion.com are much more thorough.
The second “Textpattern Building Blocks” article. Provides more in-depth insight on web design (have some idea of what your site will look like before you start), and an overview of the default forms that come standard in a Textpattern installation.
threshold state: managing static pages“A common beginner’s question about Textpattern is how to manage non-blog content, like an “about” page, or a collection of documents. This is quite easy to achive, though not entirely obvious to a first time user.”
There is also a FAQ entry describing this.
This is probably the most useful page in the Textbook. Just a complete list of Textpattern tags and thorough descriptions of how to use them.
TextileThe Textile homepage on Textism. The Textpattern article write page includes a link to a similar page on Threshold State.
